The Unfriend

by Steven Moffat, directed by Michael Beach
Steven Moffat, the award-winning writer of Dr Who and Sherlock Holmes gives us a smash hit play The Unfriend – “the funniest new play by a British author since Ayckbourn at his peak,” said the critics.

When Peter and Debbie meet Elsa, a lusty, non woke, Trump loving widow from the USA on holiday they agree to stay in touch – but you never do – do you?

So, when Elsa invites herself to stay they decide to look her up online, but it’s too late as they learn about Elsa and deadly danger is on its way! But how do you protect those you love – after all it’s a bit impolite to ask questions! A hilarious and satirical look at middle-class England’s instinct to appear nice.

Nell Gwynn

by Jessica Swale, directed by Michael Thonger
A bawdy, fun, big-hearted love letter to the theatre.

England. The swinging 1660's. King Charles II has revoked the puritan laws of the Commonwealth. Theatres have re-opened and by royal decree women are allowed to perform for the very first time.

In the Theatre Royal on Drury Lane, there is an orange seller whose wit and charisma will soon make her one of the country’s most celebrated actors. She will enchant the crowds, with the heart of the king and dance her way into history. Her name is Nell.

Nell Gwynn is a bawdy, fun, big-hearted love letter to the theatre. Come and experience the exhilarating take on some of the greatest personalities (and biggest wigs) of the Restoration.

Rules For Living

by Sam Holcraft, directed by Robert Gregory
The traditional Christmas family gathering – what could possibly go wrong?

Everyone creates their own coping strategies or rules for living. But what happens when an extended family gathers in the kitchen for a traditional Christmas and they each follow those rules, rigidly?

As long-held mechanisms for survival are laid bare, even Mum, who’s been preparing this lunch since last January, becomes embroiled. Time-honoured rivalries and resentments will out. Accusations fly, relationships deconstruct, the rules take over.

In Sam Holcroft’s theatrically playful, dark comedy, the instructions are there for all to see, audience included – so there’s really no place to hide.

Trigger warnings: Sexual references, strong language, references to mental and physical illness
